A template is a reusable request blueprint — a saved bundle of checklist items, an optional intro email message, and optional default reminder settings. Instead of rebuilding the same checklist for every client, you create a template once and reuse it whenever you start a new request.
Templates are independent copies. Editing a template after it has been used does not change any past requests created from it. The link is for your reference only — each request gets its own copy of the items at the time of creation.
All organization members can see and use any template. There is no per-user or per-team sharing — every template is visible to the entire org.
Creating a template
Open Templates in the sidebar
Navigate to Templates in the dashboard sidebar and click New template.Pick a starter or start from scratch
Choose one of the 10 built-in starter templates, or scroll down to build your own from a blank form.Configure and save
Add a name, your checklist items (with optional descriptions), an optional email intro message, and save. Your template is ready to use immediately.
Starter library
CompleteLane includes 10 built-in starter templates covering common professional workflows. Browse, copy, and customize — starters are copied into your organization so you can rename, edit, or delete them freely.

Using a template to send a request
On the New Request page, pick a template from the dropdown at the top. The checklist items, email intro, and reminder cadence pre-fill the form. Edit anything before sending — your changes only affect this request, not the template.
Template-level settings
Email intro (all tiers) — A custom message shown at the top of the initial email your client receives. Supports the {{client_name}} placeholder for personalization.
Default reminder frequency (Premium and above) — Override the organization-default reminder cadence per template. Options: every 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, weekly, or bi-weekly.
Multi-file items (Professional and above) — Allow clients to upload multiple files for a single checklist item, useful for items like bank statements or receipts.
